               Our sister in Christ Sharon Mundy was taken home to be with the Lord on Sunday. There will be a funeral service at Nelson-House funeral home in Owosso at 1pm.

               Church Anniversary Celebration

                              Reminder that we are holding a special service and picnic to celebrate the 40th Anniversary of our church building on July 14th at 4pm. A cleaning crew will meet on June 19th to discuss what preparations need to be done.

               VBS

                              Our Savior will be holding VBS July 23-25th starting at 2pm. If you have children in your life please invite them!

Podcast Recommendation

               RWJ Daily is a podcast put out by some WELS Pastors and they’ve recently been posting lectures done by Professor Daniel Deutschlander. He was a longtime professor at our Synod schools and is well worth listening to for anyone! In these lectures he goes over the Creation account in Genesis 1-3 and shows how much we learn about God and Man in just these readings from Genesis. This link is to the first section. CLICK HERE

Biblical Wisdom

               Proverbs 12:10

A righteous person understands the needs of his livestock,but the compassion of the wicked is cruel.

               A more literal translation of this passage might read that “a righteous one knows the life of his beast.” In this case the word “Know” is used to express the care that a person has for the life of another. Why can we judge a person based on his treatment of animals? An animal, particularly livestock, is totally dependent on the attitude of the person taking care of it. This really highlights how we should view any top-down relationship. Those above take care of those below as God intended, including even animals.

Genesis 1:26  God said, “Let us make man[g] in our image, according to our likeness, and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the birds of the sky, and over the livestock, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that crawls on the earth.”

Jonah 4:11 So should I not be concerned for Nineveh, the great city, in which there are more than one hundred twenty thousand people who do not know the difference between their right hand and their left—and also many animals?”
